What does it mean to be a SAF Board Member?
SAF’s priorities are growing the spinning arts, and ensuring that events under its umbrella are sustainable and adequately supported. Three officers within the board – the Chair, Cleric, and Treasurer – have additional responsibilities commensurate with their titles. Expectations of all board members include, but are not limited to:
- Attending regular one hour virtual board meetings with occasional longer sessions for special projects such as grant applications, legal filings, infrastructure updates, & drafting proposals.
- Providing strategic guidance, resources, and accountability for program leaders. Providing continuity across events.
- Maintaining the organization’s non-profit status.
- Spearheading additional initiatives such as
- Guiding a consent and restorative justice committee
- Improving board documentation
- Creating and maintaining a robust SAF social media presence
- Exploring new ways to spread the spinning arts outside of our one current event (WildFire).
Being a SAF Board Member is a volunteer role and an excellent resume-builder. At this time, we are specifically looking for individuals with not-for-profit experience and a familiarity with servant leadership.
If that’s you, submit your application today! This form will be open until 11:59 pm on 10/17, all applicants must be available for a follow-up interview with a member of the board between 10/16 and 10/19.
